A part of the series on English grammar

Personal pronouns are associated primarily with a particular person in the grammatical sense.

They are categorised according to ‘persons’. So we have different personal pronouns for the First Person, the Second Person and the Third Person.

The important Personal Pronouns are I, We, You, He, She, It and They.

Personal Pronouns give us the following information:

#Person - Who is speaking?

#Number – Is the pronoun Singular or Plural?

#Gender – Is the pronoun Masculine, Feminine or Neuter?

Personal pronouns can change their forms depending on the number, gender and case of the persons to which they are referring back to.

As can be seen in the above table, Personal Pronouns can be divided into Subject Pronouns, Object Pronouns, Possessive Pronouns and Reflexive Pronouns.
